Recital 2026: FAQs
Do parents attend dress rehearsal?
Dress rehearsal is a closed event. Only dancers, staff, and assigned backstage helpers are permitted backstage. One parent may sit in the audience to watch.
Can I take photos or videos?
Photography and video recording are permitted during dress rehearsal. Photos and videos are not permitted during the recital performance. A professional video and photos will be provided so families can enjoy the show distraction-free.
What if my child has multiple dances?
Dancers performing in multiple routines will remain backstage between numbers and will be assisted with costume changes as needed.
Do parents go backstage during the recital?
For the safety and focus of all dancers, parents and family members are not permitted backstage during the performance.
What should my dancer eat before the recital?
We recommend a light, balanced meal before arrival. Please avoid sticky, messy, or heavily dyed foods that could stain costumes.
What if my dancer is nervous?
Nerves are completely normal. Our instructors and assistants are experienced in helping dancers feel calm and confident. Most dancers relax once they are backstage with their friends.
What happens after the finale?
Dancer dismissal will take place in a designated meet-and-greet area. Pick-up procedures vary by age group and are outlined in the Recital Day section.
A Note For First Time Families
We know recital season can feel exciting—and a little overwhelming, especially if you are not sure what to expect. Please know that your dancer will be well cared for and guided every step of the way.
On recital day, dancers spend most of their time backstage with their class, instructors, and assigned helpers. Our staff and volunteers are experienced in working with dancers of all ages and will help with costume changes, lining up, and stage entrances.
Your role on recital day is simple: arrive on time, make sure your dancer is dressed and prepared, and then sit back and enjoy watching them shine on stage. If you ever have questions leading up to the recital, we are always happy to help.
